Kittypods: Modern Luxury Cat Beds

Sometimes a killer description or photo can make a product seem infinitely cooler: “Surely you’ve wanted, at least once in your life, to collapse dramatically across a piece of furniture in a sudden fit of the vapors. The piece of furniture you want for this display is a chaise lounge.” If you’ve ever had a cat, you know how closely they identify with that statement. This elegant, modern cat bed from designer Elizabeth Paige Smith is perfect for all of kitty’s dramatic collapsings and casual loppings. It’s made from industrial strength corrugated cardboard which cats LOVE, and over time it will begin to mold itself to your pet’s body. There are 2 other styles, and they all include free shipping.

Martini Dog Bowl Gift Set

Everyone loves a good martini, even dogs! How better to help your dog unwind from a “ruff” day like ice cold water in her very own martini dog bowl? Wrapables has a quirky take on the tired old stainless steel dog bowl, and it pays attention to the details. This designer dog bowl set comes with ceramic martini-themed elevated dog bowl, matching placemat, and olive dog squeaky toy. It’s all in a nifty gift box too, which makes a great gift for a dog owner/parent, or even bartender, in your life. Since no dog is happy without a few treats, there’s also a matching Cocktail Shaker dog treat jar for truly a swanky set.

Lookout Pet Car Seat

Lookout Car Pet Seat I’m one of those people who wants to take her dog everywhere with her, especially on car trips (or “goforrides” as they are more commonly known). It’s surprising how many people don’t think to secure their pet on trips as they would themselves or their children. Everyday I see people with dogs in the back of their pick-up trucks, or running around the backseat with the windows rolled down. Not only is it annoying to have your dog running around your car unrestrained, it’s also very dangerous!

You may love keeping your pup on your lap, but in just a 30 mph car crash he’ll exert more than 20 times his own weight, striking anything in his path with many extra pounds of force. The best thing you can do is keep your doggy secured and comfortable in his own Pet Car Seat. This seat is also great for dogs (like my own) who have trouble with motion sickness and vomiting during travel. When you keep your pet still her tummy will be much less prone to nausea. Your doggy will also love the fact that she’s in a “dog booster seat” that allows her to see out the window.

I also love the handy plastic drawer underneath that holds all of your dog’s gear in place: treats, leashes, toys or anything else your dog will need on your trip. And as if your pup’s seat isn’t posh enough as it is, Brookstone offers free monogramming with your purchase. You’ll need a dog harness to secure your dog to the seat, but other than that this car seat is all inclusive. I own one for myself, and I’m super happy with it. My 2 Dachshunds sit in a size large together and are comfy as can be. In fact, they like it so much that they use it as a regular bed.

So no more letting your beloved pet roam free on trips out of the house. Be a responsible pet guardian and buckle them up!

Custom Small Dog Harnesses

MC Chris the cat in a custom harness n' leash Your eyes do not deceive you; that is indeed a cat wearing a “dog” harness and leash. Sean and I are expecting our first dog in a couple weeks, so we ordered her a custom dog harness from Weenie in the Window. While our little Dachshund puppy is still waiting for us to bring her to her new home, her adorable new harness has already arrived. When I opened the package today, one of our kitties came over to sniff the contents. As I let MC Chris investigate, I couldn’t help but notice how his long, sleek frame appeared to be the perfect size for the harness. Turns out it fits him really well, which isn’t terribly surprising since WITW harnesses are good for cats as well as many small dog breeds. After a little coercion he allowed me to use him as a model so I could blog about the harness without waiting for our puppy to arrive.

close up of chocolate print fabric and tag Custom is the keyword when it comes to WITW products. Every item is handmade based on your dog’s (or cat’s) measurements and you can choose from a large selection of fabrics on their website. (They also offer an option to use your own custom fabric- which I opted for- but you have to contact them directly to inquire about that.) You can also add a ruffle (as seen above), pockets, a car restraint, and matching leash. The harnesses are made very well: sturdy enough to withstand the strongest of dogs (under 24″ girth that is). I’m still new to dog products, but I looked at a couple local pet boutiques and was shocked at the prices. $50 for a collar or couple strips of ultra-suede being passed off as a safe harness? No thanks. Weenie in the Window’s prices are a steal, especially when each item is custom made to your specifications. It even came in a package adorned with Dachshund stamps and stickers, and was lovingly wrapped in tissue paper and a fabric ribbon :) They’re a small, popular, company so order in advance if you’re expecting a new pet or are shopping for a pet lover: you may end up on the waiting list if they’re especially busy.

Soggy Paws Super Absorbant Towel

Soggy Dog Super Absorbent TowelWet days and dog walks aren’t the best combination. Luckily these Super Absorbent Dog Towels can make the discomfort and mess of Soggy Doggy Syndrome disappear. They come in two sizes: the large is 27″ x 39″ and the small is 10″ x 30″.

At first sight we were confused as to just how the special hand pockets worked, but then we found this handy little image below and loved the idea. Having a special towel just for your dog is always a good idea, and the super absorbent material and hand pockets make this towel ideal for pets. Whether your pooch just got out of the bath or is done playing outside in the rain, this towel will get her dry while you get another chance to hug and pamper your special little one.
