Blog For a Year: a unique, cheap gift
Do you blog yet? Well, not everyone does, but it’s becoming so easy to get started blogging that maybe someday everyone will*. The folks at Go Daddy, in particular, have a product available called Easy Blog that’s setting an industry standard. Not too long ago, creating a website had at least a little learning curve in that you had to obtain your services from different places and learn the criteria to choose the best one. Now Go Daddy realizes they can attract a huge chunk of the population that felt blogging was, for some reason or another, out of reach or at least proving to be a little tricky. They are a literal one-stop-shop for website creation and walk you through the domain registration, hosting setup, and blog start up processes. My “day job” is Web Development and Go Daddy is the company I recommend to my clients. This new service makes blogging available to everyone, and that’s an exciting prospect.
So this Quick Blog: you don’t have to know anything about websites in order to get a blog up and running in minutes. It could be for yourself or for someone in your life that you wish would start a website. You could even get a website for your entire family (or group of friends) and keep in touch with a group blog. At $2.70/month it’s a fantastic deal, but they even give you a free domain name for a year, too. There are also add-ons if you need bigger and better options. For $2.99/month extra you can easily store all your photos online through your own website. There are also e-mail options, but I am definitely of the opinion that POP3 e-mail (the kind provided through your own website) is too difficult for most novice users and it doesn’t offer great protection from spam or viruses. (Gmail is a great alternative.)
So whether you want to create a website for yourself or give a year of blogging as a gift, Go Daddy offers a solution for you. If you use the Quick Blog service, please let us know your experience!
*Note: Well, there are still people who brag about never having been online or that refuse to pay for broadband because they can’t understand how, when used smartly, it can save you that much $ many times over. They probably wouldn’t be too excited to receive a year of blogging.
