Every consumer has his or her favorite selling point. For me, organic underwear already have most of the criteria that I expect when shopping: quality, safety, and responsibility in manufacturing. It’s just that the styles and cost have held me back from replacing my whole underwear drawer with organic undies. Although it’s changing for the better, in the past organic clothing and intimates largely came in dowdy cuts and with unattractive price tags. Yuck! Gaiam is helping change those practices, though. They carry their own line of organic underwear (as well as other brands) and until 4/1/07 you can get 20 styles of organic intimates at %20 off. I’m ordering a pair of the sexy little Silver Linings Bikinis with an actual antimicrobial silver lining, and a set of 3 Organic Hip Hugger bikinis. Both are on sale for $15, making the Hip Huggers just $5 per pair. Gaiam said this is the lowest price of the year, and I’m inclined to believe them.

Another cute style I found is made from a mix of bamboo and organic cotton, for extra breathability and a stable temperature in hot or cold weather. The thong, bikini, and brief styles at Bamboo Clothes aren’t on sale right now, but for $28 for an organic 3-pack, they might as well be.
