I stumbled upon a mobile with picture cards on Uncommon Goods that says it’s “made to encourage your child’s early development“. I’m am definitely all for making babies smarter, but I instantly thought of what I’d actually use it for and I’d like to share that idea with you.

This mobile comes with six different cards that grow with your child. They say newborns are more responsive to the black and white geometric shapes, while older babies respond to the animals and their names. That is all great, but what about when your baby is all grown up, or you don’t have any babies?

My idea is pretty simple, but can be modified to fit your creative needs. I think this would be a great gift to send someone if you sent along 10-12 pictures of either exclusively yourself (boyfriend/girlfriend gift), or pictures of you and your family (parents/grandparents gift). Maybe even a set of pictures of a trip you both took together. Think outside the box and instead of putting pictures in a frame up on your wall in the hallway put them in a mobile and let them dance in the sunlight by a window. I think you’ll agree that the pictures attached to this mobile would be looked at a lot more than pictures on a wall.

Another idea would be to turn it into a fun craft project and make things to hang from this mobile. Crafts that come to mind are to cut out paper characters, attach weekly kid drawings, display your first art or photo gallery, hang some origami, etc.. Now you try and think of some creative ideas to use this stainless wire clip mobile and leave them as comments for others to see.
