Steampunk got it’s name back in the 80′s; a mixture of cyberpunk and Victorian era style that brings us back to a time when steam powered machines were the height of innovation. Thus, the Steampunk style is highly influenced by the mid 1800′s to the early 1900′s.
When looking for your next Steampunk inspired outfit try and think of your favorite archetype, your character, and what they’d actually wear. Do you fancy being a well dressed gent (ie. top hat, pocket watch, monocles…), a mechanic, a pilot (ie. goggles, compass, flight jacket, gloves…), sea or air-ship pirate (ie. boots, big hat, sword…), a famous explorer, con-man, military captain (long coat, fitting hat, weapon…), femme fatal (ie. lace, skirts, fitted everything, corset, gloves…), or mix and match to make your own. Keep in mind these are all just guidelines, the best part is in making your own unique Steampunk style.

What we love the most about Steampunk is that there are no boundaries. Especially in the accessories, technology, and props most people accompany with their outfits. So once you pick your outfit remember to bring it all together with a Steampunk watch, goggles, jewelry, belts, ray guns, swords, canes, and anything else your character would want.
